Bristol Palin's Ex Talks Sex with Tyra Banks
Bristol Palin's former fiancé and father to her child Tripp is talking about
their sex life on national television. Levi Johnston not only says he
practiced safe sex "most of the time" when they were together, he also
reveals to Tyra Banks that he believes Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin knew he and
Bristol were having sex when they lived under her roof. "I'm pretty sure she
probably knew. Moms are pretty smart," Johnston, 18, says in an interview set
to air April 6. The couple, who were high school sweethearts, planned to wed
after graduating – but ended up splitting earlier this year. At the time,
Johnston told Good Morning America that he needed to mature before getting
married. Meanwhile, now that they are just friends and not romantically
involved, PEOPLE has confirmed with a source that Bristol is not dating but
has been "texting and chatting" with a high school boyfriend she had before
Johnston. Johnston's mom, Sherry, and sister Mercede, join him on The Tyra
Banks Show, talking about the gag order imposed on them during Palin's vice
presidential campaign. "We were supposed to say that all questions need be
brought up to the McCain campaign. Other than that we had to say 'no
comment,' " explains Mercede.

Show." The five "View" panelists -- Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Elisabeth
Hasselbeck, Sherri Shepherd and Barbara Walters -- share the nomination for

and Kelly Ripa. The lifetime achievement award this year will go to PBS'
long-running children's program "Sesame Street." Vanessa Williams is set to
host the 36th Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy® Awards, which will be
broadcast live from Los Angeles on Aug. 30 on the CW.
Conan O'Brien Reveals His 'Tonight Show' Plans
Conan O'Brien will debut the new "The Tonight Show" on June 1, with
first-week guests including Pearl Jam, Gwyneth Paltrow, Tom Hanks and Ryan
Seacrest. "Ryan Seacrest and I are lovers, so that just makes sense. That is
around. The Post, I think, Page 6 already had it," Conan jokes, displaying
his irreverent sense of humor. On the serious side, the heir to Jay Leno,
Johnny Carson, Steve Allen and Jack Paar, is aware that he has really big
shoes to fill, but he plans on doing that by simply doing what he thinks is
funny. "Johnny Carson, when I met him years ago, told me, 'Just be
yourself,'" Conan says. "That was back in 1993. That is basically all anyone
who knows anything about these shows can tell you: You've got to do it your
way." Toward that end, Conan plans to import certain things from his "Late
Night" show, such as the "Year 2000," "Noches de Passion con Conan O'Brien,"
and Jim Gaffigan's "Pale Force" comedy bits, while also using the opportunity
to do a lot of fresh sketches. "I want to keep the best of the 'Late Night'
show ... a couple of pieces here and there that really worked for us," he
adds. "I see no reason why Triumph, the insult dog, can't file reports for
us." Conan says that just the fact that he is now living in Los Angeles makes
people laugh, considering him a fish out of water. But also being on the
Universal Studios lot, he feels, will present him with a brand new
perspective on material. As for the new set, Conan says that it will be Los
Angeles-style art deco, but "elegant," and he will keep his theme song, but
it will be "turbo charged."
Jay Leno Says Goodbye to 'The Tonight Show'
Jay Leno hosted his last episode of "The Tonight Show" on Friday evening,
passing the torch to his final guest and successor, Conan O'Brien -- but not
before poking some fun at celebs such as Jon and Kate Gosselin. In his
opening monologue, Leno reflected on his 17-year run as "Tonight Show" host.
"When we started this show, Jon and Kate were both eight," he joked. Then he
brought out his last guest, O'Brien, who inherets "The Tonight Show" next
Monday. "I just want to say, I couldn't be happier," Leno told O'Brien. "You
were the only choice. You were the perfect choice. You have been an absolute
gentlemen in private and in the press." "Conan rocks!" an audience member
shouted out. Leno replied, "I agree, Conan rocks." Conan said he knew he had
big shoes to fill, and cracked that eventually, "I want to try and fill
little shoes. Some day I want to replace a local weatherman who's been on the
air for about three months and who is no good and everybody hates." After
looking back at some of his most popular "Tonight Show" skits over the years,
Leno said his famous predecessor Johnny Carson taught him that "you always
want to have jokes. And that's what we've been trying to do for the last 17
years, make you laugh. And it's been an honor and a privilege to do that." At
the end of the show, Leno raised a curtain to reveal the 68 children born to
his staff over the 17 years. "So that's what I would like my legacy to be,"
he said. "When these kids grow up and they go, 'Hey, mom and dad, where do
you guys meet?' They're going to say they met on the stage of 'The Tonight
Show.'" Leno returns to TV on a new primetime show on NBC this fall.
TV show hires ex-president Bush's daughter
Former President George W. Bush's daughter, Jenna Bush Hager, is set to
become a correspondent for the U.S. television news and talk show "Today."
NBC, which airs "Today" weekday mornings, said on Monday it had hired Hager,
27, to be a contributing correspondent starting September 14. "In previous
appearances, she displayed a natural ability to communicate and connect," Jim
Bell, the show's executive producer, said in a statement. "She has great
passion about important subjects, especially education and literacy." Hager
started teaching schoolchildren in Washington in 2005 and has served as an
intern for UNICEF, touring Latin America and the Caribbean to document the
plight of impoverished children. She currently is the Young Leadership
Ambassador & Chair for UNICEF's Next Generation committee. Hager has written
two books that made The New York Times bestsellers list, "Ana's Story: A
Journey of Hope," the true story of a 17-year-old mother in Latin America who
has HIV, and "Read All About It!," a picture book co-written with her mother,
former first lady Laura Bush. Hager also has written stories for The New York
Times and CosmoGIRL! magazine. She graduated from the University of Texas in
2004.
Chicago's Michigan Ave. to close for Winfrey show
Oprah Winfrey is bringing her show to the streets of downtown Chicago next
week. A Harpo Productions spokeswoman said Tuesday that Winfrey is
celebrating the kickoff of the 24th season of "The Oprah Winfrey Show" by
taping the show on a stretch of Chicago's Michigan Avenue. Part of the
street, which is known as the Magnificent Mile, will be shut down from early
Monday until early Wednesday, Sept. 9. The taping is on Tuesday and will
feature a performance by the Black Eyed Peas.
Former British PM Tony Blair headed to "Late Show"
Tony Blair, the former prime minister of Britain, will take a break from
seeking peace in the Middle East to trade jokes with comedian David Letterman
on his first ever "Late Show" guest appearance next week, U.S. network CBS
said on Wednesday. The prime minister of Britain from 1997 to 2007, Blair is
coming to the United States to begin the second year of a teaching engagement
at Yale University and will appear on Letterman's late-night talk show on
Tuesday, September 8. Letterman has hosted many political figures, including
President Barack Obama during his run for the White House, and his former
Republican opponent, Sen. John McCain. Since leaving the prime minister's
office, Blair has worked for Middle East peace on behalf of the "Quartet" of
the United States, the United Nations, the European Union and Russia. Blair
will share the "Late Show" stage with actress Julianna Margulies.
Oprah Winfrey to Remember Michael Jackson on Upcoming Show
Oprah Winfrey is set to dedicate an episode of her daytime talk show to
remembering the late King of Pop Michael Jackson, including revealing untold
stories from their historic 1993 interview. In an episode airing during the
"The Oprah Winfrey Show"'s premiere week, the talk show maven will have an
encore presentation of parts of her sit-down with Jackson. The episode will
air Wednesday, September 16, after Oprah's no-holds-barred, two-episode
interview with Whitney Houston kicks off Monday, September 14.
Banks asks Hilton to stop writing about minors
TV talk show host Tyra Banks made Perez Hilton promise to stop writing
derogatory stories about underage stars just days before Demi Moore chastised
the celebrity blogger for targeting her daughter Tallulah.
Moore lashed out at Hilton last week over a set of "inappropriate" pictures
of her 15-year-old daughter, accusing him of "exploiting" teenagers. Moore
claimed the shots of the youngster, wearing a low-cut top and a revealing
pair of shorts, compared to "child pornography" and called Hilton a
"pervert." It has now been revealed that just days before Moore's outburst,
the gossip king filmed an episode of Banks' self-titled TV show where the
former model made him vow to stop bad-mouthing stars under the age of 18. In
the show, recorded on August 18, Banks tells Hilton, "When you're a kid,
especially the kid of a celebrity, I don't feel they should be put in the
public in a way to be made fun of. I feel they should be protected." Moore
asked Hilton to rein in his gossip for a year, but the pair compromised with
a six-month deal in return for Hilton being offered a guest role on Banks'
other show "America's Next Top Model."
Oprah talk show to get second airing on radio
Oprah Winfrey's nationally syndicated talk show is coming to satellite radio
-- with a day's delay. Sirius XM Radio and Winfrey's Harpo Radio on Thursday
unveiled a programing revamp for Oprah Radio on Sirius that will start
mid-month. Among the plans: new episodes of "The Oprah Winfrey Show" will air
the morning after they air on TV. This is the first time the show will be
available in another medium, the firms said. Oprah Radio also will broadcast
multiple classic episodes every day from the show's library of more than 20
years.
Obama to appear on Letterman TV show Monday
President Barack Obama will appear on comedian David Letterman's late-night
talk show next week, the CBS network said on Tuesday.
Obama will be the sole guest on the Monday, September 21, broadcast of the
"Late Show with David Letterman", CBS said. Obama became the first sitting
president to appear on any U.S. late-night talk show when he was a guest in
March on NBC's "The Tonight Show," hosted by Jay Leno. The president's Monday
appearance on Letterman's program marks the first time Obama has been on the
program since being elected president last November. He has made five
previous appearances on "The David Letterman Show", including one in
September during his campaign for the White House.
Leno show loses 7 million viewers on second night
Jay Leno's new prime-time chat and comedy TV show lost more than 7 million
viewers on its second night after a slew of bad reviews but was still the No.
1 U.S. network show of the night, audience ratings figures showed on
Wednesday.
"The Jay Leno Show" -- the closely watched cost-cutting experiment by NBC --
was watched by 10.7 million Americans on Tuesday night, compared to a revised
18.4 million on its Monday debut, according to Nielsen Media Research. Leno's
move from his former 11:30 p.m. time period to the prime-time slot five
nights-a-week that is traditionally occupied by expensive scripted drama is
being scrutinized by the entire network TV industry as it struggles to cut
costs and retain audiences. General Electric Co's NBC network has been
particularly hard hit and has been in last place for four years among the
leading four networks. Most TV critics slammed the new show after its Monday
premiere, saying it was tired and old and failed to live up to the media hype
of the past two months. A drop off was expected and NBC executives have said
they are looking at the long-term success of the show. The network noted that
the Tuesday audience was still double the average 5.2 million who used to
tune in to "The Tonight Show" with Jay Leno at 11:30 p.m. "The Jay Leno Show"
also attracted more viewers on Tuesday than the season finale of "Big
Brother" on rival CBS Corp's CBS, which drew an audience of 7.9 million, and
Walt Disney Co's ABC repeat showing of an interview with the actor Patrick
Swayze, who died of pancreatic cancer on Monday. The Swayze interview was
seen by 6 million. The leading U.S. networks will roll out the bulk of their
new prime-time TV schedules in the next two weeks.
Whitney Houston Reveals Drug, Marriage Troubles on “Oprah”
When Whitney Houston gave her infamous “crack is wack” interview
to Diane Sawyer in 2002, she owned up to a mild drug problem.
Over the past two days on Oprah, the singer revealed the true extent of her
troubles: that she was addicted to marijuana laced with rock cocaine and
emotionally battered by husband Bobby Brown until she gathered the strength
to leave him in 2006 following rehab stints and an intervention by her
mother, Cissy. The second part of Houston’s Oprah appearance featured
an emotional performance of “I Didn’t Know My Own Strength”
that left Winfrey in tears. (The song came off stronger than Houston’s
lackluster tunes on Good Morning America, which were filmed the day after she
taped the Oprah interview.) Houston told Winfrey she originally dropped out
of the spotlight because she “wanted to be normal — I had no
normal 20s, I had no normal 30s.” But her 14-year marriage to Brown
spiraled out of control and nearly claimed her career.
Lisa Ling to sub as a co-host on ABC's 'The View'
Lisa Ling, a former co-host of "The View," will be back as a guest co-host
for two days next month. ABC said Thursday that Ling will sit alongside
Barbara Walters, Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg and Sherri Shepherd for the Oct.
5 and 6 broadcasts of the weekday talk show. She'll sub for regular co-host
Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who's on maternity leave until mid-October. Ling left
"The View" in 2002 after three years as a regular. She's now a correspondent
for "The Oprah Winfrey Show" and CNN. She returned as a guest co-host in 2003
and made three guest appearances in 2008.
Accused Letterman Extortionist Is Network Colleague
The man accused of attempting to extort $2 million from talk-show host David
Letterman has been exposed as a top TV producer. On Thursday Letterman
revealed he had become the victim of a bribery plot over his sexual affairs
with several female members of his staff. The blackmailer demanded the cash
to keep the information out of the public domain -- but Letterman turned to
authorities and the man was arrested in New York on Thursday. CBS network
chiefs have now unveiled the identity of the alleged extortionist -- producer
Robert 'Joe' Halderman, who works on the channel's true crime program 48
Hours. Halderman was reportedly involved in a relationship with Letterman's
former assistant Stephanie Birkitt, who allegedly enjoyed an affair with
Letterman until 2003. A statement released by TV bosses on Thursday reads,
"CBS was made aware of an ongoing police investigation involving David
Letterman and an employee at 48 Hours, who was subsequently arrested earlier
today on charges of attempted grand larceny in the first degree." Halderman
has since been suspended from his job pending further investigation.
Letterman married longtime girlfriend Regina Lasko in March. The couple have
a son born in 2003.
Letterman Apologizes To His Wife
Disgraced talk-show host David Letterman has publicly apologized to his wife
for cheating on her before they were married. Speaking for the first time
since exposing an extortion attempt that set out to shame the TV personality
as a love rat, and confessing to a string of affairs with colleagues,
Letterman had a special message for his wife Regina Lasko during a taping of
his Late Show program on Monday. In his monologue at the beginning of the
show, he said, "She has been horribly hurt by my behavior, and when something
happens like that, if you hurt a person and it's your responsibility, you try
to fix it. "At that point, there's only two things that can happen -- either
you're going to make some progress and get it fixed, or you're going to fall
short and perhaps not get it fixed. So let me tell you folks, I got my work
cut out for me." He also apologized to the ex-staff members he has
inadvertently dragged into the scandal. Letterman added, "I'm terribly sorry
that I put the staff in that position... My thanks to the staff for, once
again, putting up with something stupid I've gotten myself involved in."
Saudi faces prison, flogging over TV sex revelations
A Saudi court has sentenced a man to five years in jail and 1,000 lashes for
boasting about his sexual exploits on television, in a case that has divided
public opinion in the conservative Islamic kingdom. Abdul-Jawad, a divorced
father of four, was arrested in August after discussing his premarital sexual
encounters, showing off his pick-up techniques and displaying some sex toys
and lubricants on a Lebanese TV program Ahmar bl Khatt al A'arid. His
comments caused a public outcry in Saudi Arabia, where the religious elite
has vast powers over society and religious police enforce the segregation of
men and women in public. King Abdullah has begun to reform education and the
judiciary in recent years, partly to discourage Islamic militancy. But he
faces resistance from clerics and conservative princes and analysts say the
case gives fresh momentum to some clerics' calls for strict curbs on social
freedoms. Three of Abdul-Jawad's friends who appeared on the Lebanese
Broadcasting Corporation "LBC" were sentenced to two years in jail and 300
lashes each. LBC is a popular channel in Saudi Arabia, one of the world's
most conservative societies, and many Saudis tune into its Western-style
entertainment programs and talk shows. Abdul-Jawad, 32, spoke from his
bedroom on an episode of "Ahmar bl Khatt al A'arid". He was shown driving his
red convertible to a shopping mall where he said he used his mobile phone to
pick up girls. A court official said that, on top of the lashings and jail
sentence, Abdul-Jawad's phone and car would be confiscated and he would be
banned from traveling after completing his term. Lawyers say Abdul-Jawad
could have been given the death penalty. Judges, who are clerics of Saudi
Arabia's strict Wahhabi school of Islam, have wide powers of discretion.
Abdul-Jawad's brother said it would be difficult for him to be accepted back
into society. "Now he has been fired from his job and after his jail term it
won't be possible for him to get a job in government or the private sector
because he was charged with a case of moral indecency," the brother, who did
not want to be named said.
Carrie Underwood to host variety special on Fox

tentatively titled, "Carrie Underwood: An All-Star Holiday Special," to air

previous hits and holiday classics. Musical guests will include Dolly Parton,
Brad Paisley and David Cook. Underwood won season four of "American Idol."
The 26-year-old country singer is a four-time Grammy winner. Her new album
will be released Nov. 3.
Michelle Obama Headed to 'Jay Leno Show'
First Lady Michelle Obama will appear on an upcoming episode of "The Jay Leno
Show," says a new report. The First Lady is set to appear and participate in
a comedic "rapid-fire questions" segment via satellite from Washington. She
will answer 10 questions as part of the segment. Mrs. Obama's appearance on
"The Jay Leno Show" will be on Friday night on NBC.
