Warren Beatty, Annette Bening, Kathleen Turner, Jane Seymour, Matthew McConaughey and other Hollywood stars headed to the Sony Studios in Los Angeles for a special dinner to honor actor Michael Douglas -- and ET was there.

Douglas received the AFI Life Achievement award, the highest honor given for a career in film. The award is presented annually to an actor whose talent has withstood the test of time, and to an individual who has been acknowledged by the public as well as critics, scholars and professional peers.

"It's been 40 plus years that I've been doing this," Douglas tells ET. "I was a little overwhelmed but I've been taking a little inventory now, and I say why not?"

ET asked Douglas' wife Catherine Zeta-Jones if her husband still gets nervous before events -- she admits his nerves do still get the best of him and jokes to ET; "If he whistled or sang the same song in the car one more time I was going to get a cab home."

The AFI Life Achievement Awards will air in TV Land PRIME, the networks new prime time programming block, on July 19th at 9:00 pm.
