Kristen Stewart Is 'Often' Topless in 'On the Road'2012-05-24
First Kristen Stewart filmed sheet-destroying sex scenes in Breaking Dawn. Now she goes topless in her upcoming film On the Road. The actress doesn't like to be exposed when it comes to her real life, but she doesn't seem to have a problem coming out of her shell when the cameras are rolling.
On the Road, based on the 1957 Jack Kerouac novel, debuted at the Cannes International Film Festival this week. While we are certain our invitation to France was lost in the mail, Entertainment Weekly's reviewer, Owen Gleiberman, says Ms. Stewart is "often topless" in the film. The star said she "wanted to do it," even though it was perhaps a bit out of her comfort zone. "I love pushing. I love scaring myself," she said at the film's photocall Wednesday.
The film centers around two pals, Sal (Sam Riley) and Dean (Garrett Hedlund) who criss-cross North America in the 1940s after the death of Sal's father. Marylou (Stewart), Dean's young ex-wife, comes along for part of the ride. The film's trailer shows the actress' bare shoulders, but apparently her full chest is on display multiple times throughout. Stewart chalks up the willingness to go partially nude to wanting to dive deep into the Beat world. "I've always wanted to get as close to an experience as I could," she explained.
Stewart also went through a month-long "beatnik boot camp" back in 2010 to prepare for the role. "I'm usually self conscious about running around town with my face hanging out," she said. "But I got to live more in those four weeks than I ever usually do in my life."
One can't help but wonder if Robert Pattinson, who's got his own sexy roles on the way in Bel Ami and Cosmopolis, has given his stamp of approval.
