Now word has it Randy Jackson is hanging up his Idol hat as well. Inside sources say the longtime judge wouldn't necessarily leave the show completely, though. He'd most likely take on some sort of mentoring role. So where does that leave us?
Well, there's been plenty of rumors about stars in talks to take over the judging panel. We've heard names from Adam Lambert to Nicki Minaj and Miley Cyrus. While nothing's been confirmed just yet, the latest frontrunner for a seat on the show is none other than Mariah Carey. It kind of makes perfect sense, since Jackson is already her manager and the show would just be trading one curvy, 40-something mom of twins for another. However, Carey is married to a 31-year-old, while Lopez is dating a 24-year-old, but that's a whole different story.
Anyway, an unnamed source said about the potential placement: "They are in serious talks with Mariah and it's very close to being a done deal."
The move has yet to be confirmed, but we're guessing the big news could drop Monday.
